POLICY

To ensure the safety and well-being of the children when being collected from the centre. (Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations 2008 Regulation 46 Health and safety practices standard: general (1)(a),(2). Regulation 47 Governance, management, and administration standard: general (1)(c)(i).

PROCEDURE (Criteria HS31)

  1. Children will only be released to authorised persons as specified on the enrolment form (Criteria GMA10).
  2. If anyone other than a specified person is to collect a child parents are required to either telephone the centre or inform one of the teaching staff. The name of the person collecting the child must be written next to the child's name on the centre sign-in sheet (Criteria GMA10).
  3. If someone other than an authorised person arrives at the centre to collect a child, the parents or caregivers will be contacted for confirmation.
  4. As paragraph 2 of our Illegal Substances Policy states "no child will be released to a parent/caregiver who is deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or mind-altering substances". This decision will be made by the person responsible in the Centre at the time. (Criteria HS33).
  5. Parents/caregivers need to inform the centre as soon as possible of any person who is denied access to the child and provide copies of the necessary legal documents (Criteria GMA10).
  6. Children will only be released to persons over 14 years of age.
  7. Parents must notify the centre if they are going to be late collecting a child.
  8. If a child who is booked until 5.30 pm has not been collected at that time parents/caregivers will be contacted. Two staff members will wait with the child until the parent/caregiver arrives.
  9. Penalty payments in accordance with the centre Fees Schedule (30 June 2014) will be charged for children who are dropped off before or after their booked in time.
